The 7-mile coastal drive from Torquay is very pretty, with countryside to the left and magnificent sea views on the right. On a clear day, Portland Bill is visible (no mean feat as it is almost 50 miles away).
Go through the "Smugglers Tunnel" to find Ness Beach which is known as the secret beach located 8 minute walk from the cottage.
Shaldon Beach is not only charming and idyllic it is a hive of beach activity. Sailing, fishing,canoeing, rowing and people just messing about on the river.
